Course Description

Non-Alcoholic Steatohepatitis (NASH) is an underdiagnosed and underreported hidden and global epidemic affecting more than 115 million people worldwide. An estimated 357 million people will be affected by 2030.

Although no drug is currently FDA-approved for NASH, it is imperative that the medical community, including healthcare professionals, managed care professionals and patients work together to strategize solutions for each phase of the patient’s journey.

This session is designed to increase awareness of NASH among the managed care pharmacy audience. A trio of dynamic speakers, including an expert in the field, a representative from a patient advocacy group, and a managed care pharmacist will discuss the disease, the clinical and economic burden of the disease, access to care, and appropriate treatment.

Target Audience

Pharmacists who practice in managed care settings.

Learning Objectives

At the completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Indicate the pathophysiology, epidemiology, and clinical and economic burdens of NASH to establish urgency in treatment.

  3. Discuss managed care benefit design challenges and strategies to optimize access to appropriate treatment.
