[K2] Understanding the 340B Program: Policy, Patients, and Practical Implications for Managed Care Professionals

Pricing: Free for Members and $30 for Non-Members

Course Description

The 340B drug discount program was created in 1992 to help vulnerable and uninsured patients access prescription medicines at safety net facilities. What was once a small and obscure program now includes $100 billion of drug sales, over 50,000 participating sites of care, and over 33,000 contract pharmacies. It is also the subject of lawsuits and policy debates in Washington, D.C. and in states nationwide, with experts from hospitals, pharmacies, and pharmaceutical manufacturers arguing about what the statute originally intended and should allow today. What is the 340B program, why is it so controversial, and what do managed care pharmacists need to know? Faculty will share their research and experience as they answer these and other questions!

Target Audience

Pharmacists who practice in managed care settings.
