[M5] Optimizing Value Assessment Tools for Coverage and Reimbursement Decisions: Promises and Pitfalls

Pricing: Free for Members and $30 for Non-Members

Course Description

In response to rising costs, health care decision-makers are increasingly looking to value assessment frameworks to evaluate the value of health care treatments. Over time, U.S. payers have increasingly used value assessment tools to inform pricing negotiations and formulary decisions. To help ensure that value assessment tools are used as intended and support optimal patient care, it is important that managed care pharmacy professionals have a comprehensive understanding of different U.S. value assessment tools, methodologies, and their respective strengths and limitations.

This session will review how U.S. payers are integrating value assessment tools in their decision-making and identify opportunities and challenges associated with applying global health technology assessment (HTA) methods to the U.S. health system.

Target Audience

Pharmacists who practice in managed care settings.
