Non-alcoholic Steatohepatitis (NASH) Emerging Market: Preparing Managed Care for Early Intervention, Equitable Access, and Integrating the Patient Voice

Pricing: Free for Members and Non-Members

Course Description

Non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) is a leading cause of cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma and is estimated to impact approximately 3% to 6% of the United States population. While NASH is a global health issue, it disproportionately affects certain populations, including those with low socioeconomic status and minority ethnic groups, resulting in significant health disparities. There is growing optimism about emerging treatments for NASH that could improve outcomes and reduce the burden of the disease. Due to the complexity of diagnosis and clinical presentation, payers are faced with the challenges of appropriately identifying their health plan NASH population and those at increased risk of developing severe complications, elevating the patient's voice in the decision-making process, and promoting equitable access to care.

This session will focus on managed care preparation ahead of the robust NASH pipeline, the impact of appropriate and early diagnosis, integration of the patient perspective into the decision-making process, and strategies to address equitable care among a diverse population.

Target Audience

Pharmacists who practice in managed care settings.
